Record Your Notes

If you take good notes, read them back into a voice recorder on your phone. Then, instead of listening to music on your commute to school, listen to your notes.

Speech Path

Visualize your route to school or the class in which you are presenting. Pick objects or landmarks to associate with different parts of your speech. As you see these objects or landmarks, practice recalling that particular part of your speech.

Body First

You wouldn't introduce someone you don't know, so why write your introduction before you've written the body content? If you know what content you want to include, write the body paragraphs first and your intro and conclusion last. It eliminates the time you wasted trying to figure out how to start your paper.

Brain Dead vs. Big Tasks

Write down a list of all the things you need to accomplish. With a highlighter or a pen, mark which tasks will take a lot of mental energy to complete and which ones you can do when your brain is fried. Plan accordingly.

Top 5 Things Rule

If you're an auditory person, listen closely in class. After lecture, recall and write down 5 things discussed (include sub-points if necessary). This can be a quote that stuck out or an important piece of information.

Clear Your Mind

You've spent weeks taking in a lot of information before a test. Just like a muscle can get fatigued, so can your mind. A good practice to do before a test is to clear your mind so you can retrieve info easier come exam time. Some effective ways to do this? Meditation or yoga (or clair!).
